Hi, I'm Katie Rhyne (she/her), the owner and massage therapist at Birch Family Massage.
I opened this massage studio in 2015 with the goal of serving people of all ages: adult clients, individuals in prenatal and postnatal stages, and children & teens. I love being part of your whole family's health and wellness care. Read all of my policy & precaution info.
Katie Q&A

How did you get started in massage therapy?

It just clicked that this was the right thing for me! A friend of mine had started massage school, and the more she told me about it, the better it sounded. I visited the Oregon School of Massage and the program and atmosphere really appealed to me, so I took an introductory class. And the rest is history! I love helping my clients feel their best.

Your space is so cute! Did you build it for your business?

Yes, and our house as well! My husband and I are big "do-it-yourself" people, and we had a dream of building our own home as well as a studio for my business. With a lot of planning, time, and effort (and some help from a professional contractor for the really big parts of the job), we were able to complete both structures. It was an amazing learning experience, but I never want to see another bucket of drywall mud again.

What do you like to do?

When I'm not giving massage or working on DIY projects, I love to spend time with my family (that's our picture below!) and friends, and to travel to new or favorite destinations. I enjoy exploring our local area as well: visiting small businesses in Downtown Hillsboro, wine tasting in the Willamette Valley, or checking out fun hiking/walking trails in parks and nature preserves. I'm a voracious reader and like a wide variety of literary genres, including fantasy/sci-fi, nonfiction/biography, historical fiction, thrillers, women's literature...you name it!
